1. What is a wellness plan? A wellness plan is a group of products and services that provide the highest level of preventative veterinary care to your pet. The plan is customized to fit the age of your pet and follow our veterinarians’ best recommendation. We know that the best way for a veterinarian to help to extend your pet’s life is by frequently examining her and identifying subtle changes in health. This allows us to intervene before small problems become life threatening and expensive. We also know that preventing preventable diseases by utilizing low-risk vaccinations and preventative products (heartworm prevention, intestinal parasites, and fleas and ticks) is crucial to avoiding unnecessary illness. We know you love your pet and want him to live a long and healthy life; we want to do our part to make that wish come true.
2. How much does a wellness plan cost? The cost of the wellness plan is variable depending on the age and type of pet, but all of our wellness plans are under $50/month. The cost of the wellness plan can be deducted from your checking account in 12 equal monthly payments or you can choose to pay for it all at once.
3. Who can purchase a wellness plan? Almost all pets are eligible to be a wellness plan member. We have different plans for each life stage of dogs and cats (Puppy/kitten plan, adult pet, geriatric pet). The plans are designed to meet the changing health needs as animal ages.
4. How does this work? When your animal is due for its annual check-up, you choose to enroll your pet into the wellness plan. Your appointment then proceeds as usual with the vaccinations and testing your pet needs. Then, we will see you in 6 months for your next included exam. Unless of course your pet becomes ill or injured and you need our help sooner.
5. What happens if my pet gets sick or needs surgery? If your pet needs testing or treatments for a disease or injury, you will pay for the necessary services at the time of service. You can choose any payment method you wish including CareCredit. Wellness plan members also receive half price office calls when a visit for illness or injury is necessary.
6. What are the benefits of a wellness plan? Wellness plans allow you, the pet owner, to provide the very best preventative healthcare to your pet. This is made possible through affordable monthly payments to cover the cost of your pet’s preventative veterinary care. Wellness plan members also receive half price office calls when a visit for illness or injury is necessary. The earlier we see a sick/injured pet, the more we can help.
7. What happens at the end of my contract year? You will receive notification your wellness plan is expiring soon. Your plan will automatically renew unless you let us know you wish to cancel the plan. If your pet is changing plans (puppy to adult, adult to senior), we will set you up with a new contract and payment plan.
8. How do I get my pet’s heartworm preventative and flea/tick products? You will take half of it at each of your semi-annual wellness exams.
9. Why will my pet need two exams each year? We know the best way to keep your pet healthy is to examine him or her frequently. Animals age at an accelerated rate in comparison to humans. Well, that and we just like getting to see you!
